STN: Four firms have submitted bids for the Detailed Design Consultant (DDC) contract for traction and power supply works in the 44.65 km Bangalore Metro Phase 3 project.
Overview of Bangalore Metro Phase 3
Phase 3 consists of two new lines in western Bengaluru. The 32.15 km Orange Line will connect Kempapura to JP Nagar 4th Phase via 22 stations along the Outer Ring Road (ORR). The second line, 12.5 km long, will link Kadabagare to Hosahalli through nine stations.
These new lines will use the 750V DC third rail system, the same technology used in previous phases. The DDC contract, labeled as Package EPDD-5, will include the design of traction substations, auxiliary substations, 750V DC third rail systems, and the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system.
Contract and Bidding Details
The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd. (BMRCL) invited bids for this consultancy contract in October 2024. The contract has a deadline of 730 days (2 years).
Today, BMRCL opened the technical bids to reveal four bidders. The list below includes lead bidders, though some may have submitted joint venture bids:

Next Steps
The bids are now under technical evaluation. This process may take a few months to complete. Afterward, the financial bids of the qualified firms will be opened. The firm offering the lowest bid is likely to secure the contract for this design consultancy work.
Recent Developments
In December 2024, BMRCL received six bids for the civil structure’s three Detailed Design Consultant contracts for Bangalore Metro Phase 3. Civil construction tender notices for this phase are expected no earlier than Q1 2026.
