4 Firms Bid for Bengaluru Suburban Rail Line 1 Civil Contract

Four companies have submitted bids for the construction contract C1A of the Bengaluru Suburban Rail Line 1, part of the 149.35 km Bengaluru Suburban Rail project (BSRP). This 41.47 km Corridor 1 project will connect KSR Bengaluru City, Yelahanka, and Devanahalli.

Scope of Bengaluru Suburban Rail Line 1 Project

This contract, specifically for the Sampige Line (Line-1), covers the construction of the first section (Corridor 1A) between KSR Bengaluru City and Yelahanka. The chosen contractor will be responsible for constructing a 14.213 km elevated viaduct with five elevated stations, a 3.417 km at-grade section with two stations, and a rail overbridge (ROB).

The Karnataka Rail Infrastructure Development Company (K-RIDE) invited tenders for this contract in July 2024. The estimated project cost is Rs. 1,422.60 crore, with a deadline of 2.5 years for completion. On Wednesday afternoon, K-RIDE opened the technical bids, revealing the following four bidders:

Next Steps in Bid Evaluation

The technical bids submitted by all four companies will undergo a detailed evaluation process. This phase typically takes a few months. After the technical evaluation, the financial bids of the qualified bidders will be opened. The bidder with the lowest financial proposal is likely to be awarded the contract.

Current Status of Line 1 and Other Contracts

The contract for Corridor 1A is the fifth civil contract to reach the technical evaluation stage. Two other contracts have already been awarded to Larsen & Toubro for Corridor 2 (C2 viaduct) and Corridor 4 (C4 viaduct). Technical evaluations are ongoing for two additional contracts, C4A and C4B, which involve station construction.
