STN: Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) has received a Letter of Acceptance from Southern Railway. The contract is for a traction power project in the Jolarpettai–Salem section under the Salem Division. The work focuses on creating traction substations, power quality systems, and control and monitoring setups needed for smooth rail operations.

The value of this contract is Rs.145.35 crore. The total duration to complete the project is 540 days. RVNL will manage the full project cycle. This includes design, supply, erection, testing, and commissioning.

Scope of Work Under the RVNL Southern Railway Contract

The scope of work covers several technical tasks. RVNL will set up Scott-connected traction substations. These substations support the 2×25 kV feeding system used in this section. The project also includes installing power quality equipment and switching posts.

Other key tasks are the setup of SCADA systems and automatic fault locator systems. These systems help monitor power supply and track any issues quickly.
