STN: It was significant for public transport in Bengaluru. Friday witnessed the CMRS inspection. The inspection was conducted on the Kengeri-Challaghatta stretch of Bengaluru. The inspection was carried out by the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety, Southern Circle. The purple line for the Bengaluru metro now looks set for opening.
The inspection team successfully completed the inspection, which commenced at 9:45 a.m. Last week, the team inspected a section of this line. This brings Bangalore one step closer to fulfilling its metro aspiration.
The purple line of the Bengaluru metro extends 39.4 km long. It has 35 stations. The line goes from Kengeri on the southwest to Baiyappanhalli on the east. It comprises mainly of an elevated line with 29 stations, five below ground and one at a grade level. It moves on to important cities like MG Road, Majestic Station, and Whitefield.
Such expansion would reshape commutation services for Bangaloreans providing a less hectic way of moving compared to road traffic. Not only does it reduce travel time. It also contributes to environmental conservation. This is done through the decrease of carbon emissions in an urban setup.
