STN: The Patna Metro Rail Project reached an important step on 7 September 2025. The first trial run on Patna Metro Line 2 was carried out between Patna Depot and Bhoothnath Metro Station.
Officials tested several systems during the trial. These included braking, signaling, track control, and train safety systems. The run aimed to check if the corridor is ready for further testing before passenger services begin.
Patna Metro Line 2 – Route and Stations
Patna Metro Line 2 stretches over 14.05 km. It connects Patna Junction Railway Station with New ISBT. There are 12 stations planned along this line. The trial covered only a small section for now, but more runs will be conducted on the full route in the coming months.
The main goal is to ensure safe and smooth travel for future passengers. Once all tests are complete, the corridor will open for public use.

The Minister of Urban Development and Housing Department, Shri Jibesh Kumar, visited the Metro Depot and Zero Mile Metro Station recently. He reviewed the progress and inspected the systems in place. His visit highlighted the importance of the project for the city’s transport network.
Patna Metro Phase 1 Overview
The Patna Metro project is being built in phases. Phase 1 includes two lines with a total of 24 stations.
- Line 1 (East–West Line): Danapur Cantonment to Khemni Chak – 16.86 km with 14 stations.
- Line 2 (North–South Line): Patna Junction Railway Station to New ISBT – 14.05 km with 12 stations.
These two corridors will connect important points in Patna and ease daily travel for thousands of passengers.

The successful trial run is only the beginning. More tests will follow on different stretches of Line 2. Once all safety checks are complete, trial runs with passengers will start. After that, services will be opened to the public.
