In a key move ahead of the general elections in 2024, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched off Kerala’s first Vande Bharat train from Thiruvananthapuram to Kasaragod. Modi, who arrived in Thiruvananthapuram to a resounding welcome, will also inaugurate the Kochi water metro and lay the cornerstone for a Rs. 1,500 billion digital research park.

The Prime Minister arrived in Kochi on Monday night for a two-day trip to Kerala. As he engaged the state’s ruling CPI(M) and the main opposition Congress, accusing them of working against the interests of the people, he also sought out to Kerala’s youth and religious leaders. Speaking at the Yuvam 2023 summit, Modi predicted that Kerala will soon accept the BJP, its work, and its government in the same manner as Goa and the Northeastern states had. Modi urged the youth to speak up for change.

According to Modi, the BJP-led administration at the federal level is collaborating with young people to make development a reality. “While previous administrations were notorious for scams, the BJP government has been creating opportunities for the youth in the past nine years,” he remarked. He stated, “While one party is working to promote its political interest above the interest of the state, the other is working for the interest of one family,” taking a shot at the CPI(M) and Congress, the two parties currently in power in Kerala. It is now necessary to displace these two political philosophies.
