STN: On August 8, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) issued a Letter of Acceptance (LOA) to Ranjit Buildcon Ltd. (RBL) for the construction work under package BBC-3 of the Bhubaneswar Metro Phase 1 project. The contract is valued at Rs 561.21 crore.
Package Overview – Bhubaneswar Metro BBC-3
This package covers a 7.122 km stretch on the southern end of the 26 km long Corridor 1. It will link Capital Hospital to Acharya Vihar Square with 6 elevated stations, which include:
- Capital Hospital
- Bapuji Nagar
- Bhubaneswar Railway Station
- Ram Mandir Square
- Vani Vihar
- Acharya Vihar Square
This is the first of three civil packages (BBC-03, BBC-04, and BBC-05) to receive an LOA from DMRC. The contract has a 36-month completion timeline, with costs covered by the state government.

Bidding Process
- Bid Invitation: In March 2024, DMRC invited bids for Package BBC-03, with an estimated cost of Rs 630.65 crore and a 36-month deadline.
- Technical Bids: On June 19, technical bids were opened, with 12 bidders identified for Package BBC-03. DMRC then disclosed the financial bids of the technically qualified bidders.
Work Scope – Bhubaneswar Metro BBC-3
Ranjit Buildcon will be responsible for designing and constructing an elevated viaduct and 6 elevated stations for the Bhubaneswar Metro project, as outlined in the package.
This marks Ranjit Buildcon’s third metro project, following their involvement in the Ahmedabad and Surat Metro projects.
Bhubaneswar Metro Project
On January 1, 2024, former Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik laid the foundation stone for the Bhubaneswar Metro project. Phase 1 of this project includes a 26 km corridor connecting Trisulia Square to Biju Patnaik Airport, featuring 20 elevated stations. The project is advancing rapidly, with construction expected to start soon.
