Gujarat (Smart Transport News): Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation has given the Rail Vikas Nigam/Siemens partnership two different orders.
Siemens Limited is a consortium partner with Rail Vikas Nigam Limited, which received two orders from Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (GMRCL), according to a BSE filing by Siemens.
Siemens Limited’s contribution as a consortium member, according to the company, is Rs 678 crore.
The contracts cover Surat Metro Phase 1, a 40-kilometer project with 38 stations and two depots. Phase 2 of the Ahmedabad Metro covers more than 28 kilometres and comprises 23 stations and one depot.
Siemens will provide train electrification technology and project management services, including cutting-edge power supply and distribution systems. For both metros, Siemens will also provide cutting-edge digital technologies, such as Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) solutions.
Gunjan Vakharia, the head of Siemens’ mobility division, commended GMRCL for supporting the company’s efforts to develop a more creative, eco-friendly, and safe transport system for sustainable communities.
