Delhi (Smart Transport News): Between Knowledge Park-2 in Greater Noida and the anticipated Noida International Airport at Jewar, a metro rail line with seven stops is proposed. Six of these seven will be in positions, and one will be underground, according to persons with knowledge of the situation.
A detailed project report (DPR) for the metro line between Jewar Airport and Knowledge Park-2 was created by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation and given to the Yamuna Motorway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) last year. It is currently being submitted to the Uttar Pradesh government for clearance.
Seven stations or more are located between Jewar Airport and Greater Noida. Four of these seven may be International Film City, Techzone, Knowledge Park-2, and Noida International Airport in Jewar. The station will be underground and close to Noida International Airport.
In addition, it’s expected that the remaining three stations will be constructed in the YEIDA industrial sectors 28 and 29, as well as in the residential districts 18, 19, and 20. Knowledge Park-2 metro station, which will act as an interchange stop, would allow riders to transition from the Noida Aqua line of the Noida-Greater Metro.
The 72 km long metro corridor along the Airport Express Line includes the 35.64 km long link between Jewar Airport and Greater Noida. It links the Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi with the soon-to-be international airport in Noida.
The project will be finished in two stages, the first covering a distance of 35.64 km from Jewar Airport to Knowledge Park-2 and the second covering a distance of 36.36 km from Knowledge Park-2 to Delhi.
The complete metro connecting link will be made of high-speed rail. Considering the distance between the Metro Lines, the planned travel time between the two airports will most likely be one hour.
For two phases, the project is expected to cost roughly Rs 13,000 crore. The DPR for the Knowledge Park-2 to Delhi metro connection was supposed to be submitted by March 31 of this year, but it was postponed by two months due to the need for more time to perform surveys, according to a YEIDA official. Presently, YEIDA is expected to receive it by June 2023.
After being examined by the YEIDA, the Greater Noida-Delhi Metro Line DPR would be forwarded to the state government for further approval. But according to the official, neither metro corridor work can start unless the state government gives its approval.
A feasibility study for a metro link between IGI Airport and Noida International Airport would be finished in September 2021, according to officials from YEIDA and DMRC. By September 2024, phase one of the new airports should begin. It will link the two airports and establish multimodal linkages from Jewar to other areas of Greater Noida, Noida, and Delhi.
