NCC Wins ₹2165 Cr Contract for Mumbai Metro Line-6 Package

STN: NCC Limited has been awarded a Letter of Acceptance (LoA) valued at ₹2,165.8 crore from the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA). This contract covers Package 1-CA-232 of Mumbai Metro Line 6, which will run for 15.31 km between Swami Samarth Nagar and Vikhroli (Eastern Express Highway). The project aims to improve east-west connectivity in the city.

How the contract was awarded

MMRDA floated tenders for this package in 2024 with a target completion period of 1,800 days. Technical bids were opened on 13 December 2024, with three companies submitting proposals. After evaluation in March 2025, one bidder was disqualified.

Financial bids of the remaining firms were opened on 24 March 2025. Following the financial assessment completed on 12 August 2025, NCC was declared the lowest bidder. On the same day, the LoA was issued in NCC’s favor.

  • Larsen & Toubro Limited – ₹2,515 crore

Scope of NCC’s work on Mumbai Metro Line 6

Under Package 1-CA-232, NCC will handle the design, supply, installation, testing, and commissioning of several key components:

  • Traction and power supply systems
  • Electrical and mechanical (E&M) works
  • Lifts and escalators at 13 elevated stations
  • Rolling stock and communication-based train control systems
  • Telecommunication and platform screen door systems
  • Depot equipment and machinery

The package also includes two years of defect liability maintenance followed by five years of comprehensive servicing.

Rolling stock contract awarded to Titagarh

NCC has handed over the rolling stock portion of the package to Titagarh. In August 2025, Titagarh received an LoA worth ₹1,598.55 crore to design and supply metro trains for Mumbai Metro Line 6.

Other developments on Mumbai Metro Line 6

In a separate package, Ircon International Limited has also been selected by MMRDA to work on Line 6 under Contract CA-233. This indicates that construction and systems work are moving forward in parallel across the corridor.
