STN: RITES secures prestigious railway contract. RITES, as we all know is a central public sector undertaking under the Ministry of Railways, has secured the lowest bid in a tender issued by the Railway Board. The contract, valued at approximately ₹65.4 crore, comes with significant responsibilities. RITES will be responsible for conducting testing and inspection of rails in accordance with the stringent IRS T-12 2009 standards set by Indian Railways.
Under this contract, RITES will inspect a staggering 60,000,000 metric tons of rail, with the inspection costs estimated to be paid over a span of five years, amounting to a total of Rs. 65.4 crore plus applicable taxes. The execution of this order/contract is stipulated to take place over five years, with the possibility of a one-year extension. RITES secures prestigious railway contract.
