STN: Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) has received a civil work contract for a section of Delhi Metro’s Golden Line. The award comes under the Delhi Metro Phase 4 project and is valued at ₹447.42 crore.

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) awarded this contract as part of the Phase 4 expansion. It will involve building a viaduct and platforms for several stations between Saket G Block and Lajpat Nagar.

Project Details Under Delhi Metro Phase 4 Contract

The contract is part of Package D2C-02. This is the first construction package for Line-11 of the Delhi Metro network. The Union Government approved Line-11 in March 2024. It is one of several corridors being developed under the Phase 4 expansion, which will cover 112.32 kilometers in total.

This package includes:

  • Building a 7.298 km elevated viaduct
  • Developing platforms at seven metro stations

The stations included are Pushp Vihar, Saket District Court, Pushpa Bhawan, Chirag Delhi, Greater Kailash-1, Andrews Ganj, and Lajpat Nagar. Each station will only have platform-level structures in this package. The rest of the station components, like concourses, will be handled under separate contracts.

Bidding Process and Cost Overview

DMRC had issued the tender in January 2025. The estimated cost of the work was ₹456.06 crore. Bids were opened in May 2025.

Out of five total bids, two were disqualified during technical evaluation. The remaining three included RVNL, H.G. Infra Engineering, and PNC Infratech. The final bid values were as follows:

Company NameBid Amount (₹ crore)
RVNL447.42
H.G. Infra Engineering553.11
PNC InfratechNot available

Since RVNL offered the lowest valid bid, DMRC awarded the work to them.

Funding and Construction Timeline

The funding will come through contributions by the central and Delhi state governments, along with DMRC’s own sources.

Construction work is expected to begin with initial groundwork in late September 2025. Full-scale building activities are likely to start by November 2025.

Most of the stations, except Pushp Vihar, will have a platform length of 74 meters. Pushp Vihar will be longer at 140 meters. These dimensions mean that only three-coach trains can be operated on this corridor.

Alignment and Station Design

DMRC has made several changes to the route design in this part of the city over the past decade. The final alignment now includes a direct connection from Saket G Block to Lajpat Nagar. Platforms will be constructed first, with station concourses built separately next to them. This design is similar to stations like Kailash Colony on the Violet Line.

Conclusion

The awarding of this Delhi Metro Phase 4 contract to RVNL signals the beginning of a new phase of construction in South Delhi. Once completed, this section will ease travel and improve public transport access for thousands of commuters in the area.
